Yuan Baozong was born in province Jiangsu. He finished study from Northern Jiaotong University in 1953 and received the PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from farmer USSR in 1960, He was the dean of the School of Electrical and Information Engineering , the director of the Institute of Information Science . Recently he is a senior professor of the School of Computer and Information Engineering and honorary director of Institute of Information Science. He serves as a fellow and the vice-chairman of Academic Committee of Chinese Institute of Communication, Chairman of Beijing Chapters of IEEE Computer Society and of IEEE Signal Processing Society. He is also a fellow of IEE and the chairman of IEE Beijing Section. His research interests include speech and image signal processing, multimedia, computer vision, virtual reality and human-computer interaction. He has published more then 300 journal and conference papers .
